beans reprise

I give up. No, seriously, I give up on the whole part of parenting where I try to influence or second guess my son or report on what he's doing with any sort of authority.

As if to rub my nose in the whole argument over eating his dinner, as if to underline that he is now and will always be in control, today in the vegetable department of the supermarket he walked over to a tray of green beans and started pulling them out and eating them. I bought a bag and he ate them all through the shop. We stopped, mind you, we stopped in the middle OF THE BISCUIT AISLE so he could have another bean. I cooked beans for tea. He ate the lot.

I think we're done here. I may be a while.

Apparantly it's going to be quite a windy night...

The child's role in life is to disprove any theory or conclusion its parents have made regarding children.

Is it wrong of me to LAUGH at you? Yes of course it is and I am sure I will be duly punished by one of our 3 doing something vile...and then you can laugh at me. In the meantime you can laugh at Chopper's post of his most recent verbal joust with N3S if you wish: http://fullofbullshite.blogspot.com/2009/07/murder-mystery.html

How smug did you feel with all the other mums watching your son's healthy eating?!

Bloomin' heck! Bet you didn't wash them did you - he'll get a bad tummy and that'll serve him right for being the one to call the shots!

Fussy eaters. I could write a book about that. Good for the spud though, got to love a bit of independence and an ability to keep the parents in suspense.

LOL! Reminds me of this song we used to sing:

Beans, beans, good for your heart,
The more you eat, the more you fart.
The more you fart the better you feel,
So let's have beans for every meal!

BTW, that tie-dyed tee is just so cute.

"Honey, do you want some strawberries? They're so good!"

"No? Oh. OK."

Sitter the other day: "Since when does Jonathan like strawberries. he was just wolfing them down...."

Argh!

I'm still laughing and I feel a sudden craving for beans coming on...

I love Spud. I love him. I do. We shall be in Paris in October, what say you two take the train over and meet us for tea?

You, the same as I, have been blessed and cursed with a very entertaining child - and it only gets better.

Q just called to tell me the seven day hike she and A were taking in Yosemite had turned into a four day flee for life - after the boulders and snow and blocked trail and bushwhacking their way out., and shredded boots, and the vole who tried to eat A's shoes during the night...

This was after I answered my mobile with "What's wrong?" breathless as she was calling two days before they were supposed to be at trail's end.

So consider the beans easy training Mom!

Oh, the kids always make liars of us, don't they?

I have been at their grandparents' homes, insisting, "Oh, he loves that veggie." While my child(ren) sat there and refused to eat it...

On the flip side of that, I would be at same grandparents' homes insisting, "Oh, he won't eat that. He doesn't like it." While behind me said child(ren) were wolfing down that same food...

If you figure it out, let us know. I just know kids are set on proving their parents wrong!
