Lies we tell our children

Here are some of the lies I've told Charlie this week:

- Reeses Peanut Butter Cups only have 2 cups in a pack.
- Yes, you DID win
- You did a very good job of wiping your bottom
- That's not funny
- I'm still cross

The hardest one is 'that's not funny'... Imagine if you will... it's late, he's been playing up all evening, he's refusing to put on his pyjamas and has resorted to parading around waggling his bottom in the air and making fart noises.  Although funny, this could be resisted if it wasn't for the expression on his face, which is priceless and becomes more so once he feels he has the upper hand, ie, catches me smirking.

Hard to stay cross but somehow, I managed.

I did, however, not feel guilty about that 3rd peanut butter cup.

Oooh - neither would I. If we were allowed peanut butter cups in our house, which sadly we aren't...

Now THAT's a crime... not allowed or just can't get?

i think i pull the "that's not funny" one alot, and coming from the long line of wiseacres, liars, and cards that i do, i get away with it every time.

Shocking lies - simply shocking. I often say 'This is your last chance' - and that's usually a lie too.

Darth - I'm surprised that you don't just crack up and laugh, to be honest... it's so hard not to!

Hot Cross Mum - ha - I say that too! Damn, should have included it...

I do the "I'm cross" look and stare at work with the kids so much - but I'll be darned if I don't have to turn away and laugh a lot of times. And I'll be double darned if they don't CATCH me! LOL that's they're best fun catching me smiling when I'm supposed to be mad. :) Now...off to buy some peanut butter cups! ;D

LOL

I lie too. Mostly along the lines of the peanut butter cup lie or that's not funny lie. ;) He is slowly learning to really listen to the details of what I say because he is starting to suspect that Babu isn't above pulling a fast one on him if she thinks she can get away with it. Heh.
